Pulling ourselves back to what is happening in the present moment is a great starting point in dealing with a situation. This is known as mindful awareness or switching on.

There are different things that we can switch on to in any situation. Our five senses help us to be in touch with the world as it is right now and provide us with important information about what is happening around us and within us.

Bugg has the power of super-sensitivity to what we:

  • see
  • hear
  • smell
  • touch, and
  • taste

He also has the power of Breath – by switching on to our breathing we are able to calm down, be more in the present moment, and are open to different types of thoughts.

We can also switch on to our routine activities (e.g., mindful eating).
